Left 4 Dead

Ok, so I broke down and bought Mirrors Edge and Left 4 Dead yesterday. To start off, Mirrors Edge is pretty. It’s extremely pretty, and the action is awesome. In the intro to the game the main character talks about how everything flows. When you first start out, it won’t seem like it, but within the first 20 minutes you’re jumping over obstacles, running walls, jumping from roof to roof, and much more, like you’ve run that same exact path hundreds of times (which sometimes you will in order to make it through an area alive.)

So needless to say, Mirrors Edge is a nice change of pace from the traditional FPS Shoot-em-up games.

Speaking of shoot-em-up FPS, Left 4 Dead. Best multiplay experience I’ve seen in a game in a long time. L4D is a game of forced cooperation, I don’t care who you are or how good you think you are. You stray to far from the group, get hit by a boomer, and try to fight off the ensuing horde all by your lonesome, I dare you. Multiplayer co-op was extremely fun with working through the different chapters of each campaign, but the fun didn’t truely begin until I played Versus. The cooperation required by the infected to take down the survivors, and the even larger amount of cooperation needed by the survivors to make it through the onslaught of AI common zombies and PC special infected. Valve did a great job yet again with creating a game that has a mind-blowing multiplayer experience.

So if you’re looking for a couple games to pick up this holiday weekend I would definately go for L4D and Mirrors Edge.

If you already have L4D send me a friend request on xbl, my gamertag is Teh Sparrow

Let the zombie slaying begin!

No...Just, no

It's cold, too bloody cold.
Snow is not melting when it hits the ground, not cool.
Although I did get a laugh today. When I was exiting off of I235W onto ValleyWest dr there was a car flipped on it's top on the bridge over the interstate. I know it's bad, but I still laughed, it's not even slick out yet (this was at about 3:20am) and somehow this car managed to get flipped onto it's top. I don't even want to know. The speed limit is only 35 there, so I mean, either the person was just not paying attention and being stupid, speeding, or both. But there was a firetruck, tow truck, and like 3 cop cars.

And yesterday when i was exiting I35N I80E onto University, some girl had rearended the car in front of her, and there was a cop there too. It's like, comeon people, it's Iowa. You only have to live here for a year be here long enough to know that when winter starts to set in, DRIVE NICE. Not a very complicated concept. But, who am I to talk, I was just getting onto I35N from I35/80, at about 65mph, when my truck decided it wanted to go into overdrive. 65mph, sudden jump from about 3000rpm to 5000rpm, wet roads, about 35 degrees F. . .not very good odds there. Well needless to say, I went into a good 45degree drift at about 70mph, overcorrected the first time and threw it even further when it came around, but somehow still managed to save it and get my traction back. Didn't really scare me, I just haven't driven like that on purpose for a long time, so I had like a HUGE adrenaline rush, it was crazy.

But yeah, I'm just bored and all because our CIC client is down so I can't take any calls right now, but I also really just don't have anything else to say right now, so I guess I'll see you all on the flip side, and post again later.

Work

Work is, well, work. That's all there is too it. You wake up, get ready, go to work, do ur shit, take a break or 2, maybe even lunch, finish ur shit, then go home. By now, you're probably at work now, I am too, but I've been here since about 3:30am. I'm on the whole lunch part of work right now and I have about. . .hold on. . .1min 30secs before i have to clock back in. Well..at least get back on the phones, I can't clock in since our timecard server is DOWN, yes, DOWN. But don't be surprised, everything else is working right now (knock on wood) so I mean, SOMETHING had to be down. Says it's scheduled maint, I'd be worried, but since it is another company maybe THEY can keep to a time schedule. Who knows, guess I'll just have to wait and find out. one moment. . .

yeah, so I'm back on the phones now, waiting for some idiot customer to call in and tell me he KNOWS exactly what is going on and what I HAVE to do to fix it. heh, moron. I already had one of those today. He scared the shit out of me. I was talking to him and couldn't figure out how ...got a call...ok..so i'm not on hold w/ dispatch.. the guy knew all the signals, till he finally tells me he's in the modem and I was like...fuck...luckily, at that point, I was able to just get him out of the modem, schedule a trouble call and get him off the phone haha.

I like the hold music for dispatch. It's REAL music. Ours is just midi tracks, it's annoying as hell. and it repeats after like only 2 minutes, it's rediculous.

Blah...I'm done ranting here for a bit, I think I'll head on over to schwah's page for a bit. y'all should check it. schwahsrandomness.blogspot.com

later me peeples

Hola. ¿como esta?

Yeah, so I'm Jake, I prefer to be called Birdy, but noone seems to care anymore so I guess I'm just Jake. And I just went on break so I will return in about 15 minutes!

. . . . . . .(15 minutes later). . . . . . . .

It's too damn cold outside...
But anyways, the first posts I have on here are poems, the 2 immediatly before this one are songs, Curved-Like Letters was written with a jackass friend whom I don't speak to anymore, written for his ex, how ironic huh? I still like the song so I've just taken it as mine. Second Chance is lyrics I wrote for a song for a girl I so foolishly left a couple years ago, tried to get her back, but she just wouldn't hear it.

but yeah, I'm done for now, prolly post again by the time I leave work.

Curved-Like Letters (song)

i want to write a song to you
that explains how fate can always come true
i want to talk about the day
that we were both drawn to
20,000 'round and you the most
beautiful of all
and i felt nothing could go on without you

would you turn me down
if i never saw you around
or would you want this everytime i
call you mine i would say
we're made for each other
but that might just be a cover
but i know there's nothing better
than screaming curved like letters

every time i think of you now
i can show no more than that evil smile
i even gave you all 8 spots on my speed dial
i've never been in such a rush
to understand how two hearts can touch
but every minute i wait is too much

it will be a while before
i'm around
but with you my feet are
on the ground
you gave me reason
to call on a savior
to change all my
old behavior

would you turn me down
if i never saw you around
or would you want this everytime i
call you mine i would say
we're made for each other
but that might just be a cover
but i know there's nothing better
than screaming curved like letters

after talking to you i knew what
i must do
to ask for a chance to prove
what i feel for you
to say that i love you
and to fully follow through
in everything i say or do
i promise you

would you turn me down
if i never saw you around
or would you want this everytime i
call you mine i would say
we're made for each other
but that might just be a cover
but i know there's nothing better
than screaming curved like letters

i want to write a song to you
that explains how fate can always come true
i want to talk about the day that we were
both drawn to
20,000 'round and you the most
beautiful of all
and i felt nothing could go on without you
